"Syrian army troops parade during a farewell ceremony at Riyyak airbase in the Bekaa valley April 26, 2005. Syria pulled its last troops and intelligence agents ending three decades of domination over Lebanon. The last Syrian soldiers and intelligence agents left Lebanon on Tuesday, ending three decades of Syria's direct involvement in its small neighbour. As their buses crossed the frontier, many Lebanese hailed the completion of a withdrawal that had taken seven weeks as the start of a new era. But although Damascus's domination is past, many believe its influence in Lebanon is far from over."

Personagens:
• Simão, quatro anos
• Pai do Simão
Eu: − É meu amigo, o Senhor Pato, sabias?

"An Angolan vendor sells fruits on the streets of the nation's capital Luanda April 23, 2005. Angola's farming sector is slowly recovering after decades of civil war, but landmines and destroyed infrastructure hamper progress and a million people still rely on food aid, United Nations experts say. Thousands of refugees have returned to abandoned fields since a 27-year civil war ended in 2002. Some have lost farming skills altogether and for those who have them, getting produce to market is all but impossible."
